On Friday 17th November 2023 at 19.30 at Cheddon Fitzpaine Memorial Hall local amateur historian, John Scanlon, has arranged to do a presentation on how both World Wars affected the village of Cheddon Fitzpaine.
The presentation will include references to the stories behind those villagers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Also included will be an explanation of the preparations that were made to combat the expected German invasion, including the wartime secret Auxiliary Unit who were specially trained guerrilla fighters and the covert Special Duties Branch of Military Intelligence, both of which had important bases in Cheddon.
The presentation will be interspersed with interesting military anecdotes!
Whilst entry is free, a donation towards the upkeep of St Marys Church would be appreciated.
